TREASURES AND YOUR HEART

Hey gang,

It's your friendly neighbourhood Kingston here....been a long time since we've posted but I was reading this article by Kaycee from Zjam and decided I'd post it. Read and leave a comment on what you think about this and how it speaks to you about what's going on in your life!

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “ Luke 12:34 (NIV)

Sure, we’ve all probably heard this verse many times, but today let’s take a closer look at it. What I want you to do right now is think of where the primary focus of your life is. Is it school? Where you work? Earning money? Relationships? Playing sports? Or is it in something else? What do you spend most of your time doing? What are most of your thoughts about? Honestly, where is your heart?

Wherever your attention is centered, that’s where your heart is. In today’s world, we have to be careful how much time we let things take up in our lives. Too many people get caught up in their work or hobbies, and all their time is spent on those things. Then, there’s no time for anything else, especially God. Their work or desire to achieve consumes their life, instead of having God be the essential motivation and focus.

Mark 12:30 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength...'” Jesus said this was the greatest commandment. Wow! The supreme, most important instruction God gives to us is to love Him with all that we have and all that we are! God doesn’t tell us to go make money first, and then come to Him. He doesn’t tell us to go do what we think we should, and after that, seek His will. No, He says to love Him with our whole hearts first.

Do the yearnings of your heart line up with the desires God has in His own heart? I encourage you to examine your heart, and let God reveal to you what His desires are, and how you can have the same.

ME WANT EATS!!!

Well, not ME exactly, but we will be making some sandwiches for the homeless this Friday. Please bring two packs of meat because we were a bit short last time. If you're not sure how much two packs of meat is, just bring more than what you think you need to bring! We always run short, so let's bring more this time--the more the merrier!!! :)

So let's put to practice what Pastor Steve from Summer Camp said...let's reach out and do something for those in need!!! See ya'll there at 7:30pm on Friday!

PAYCE!

Friars and Nuns

Ok ok, so it's been a while since we've blogged, but it's been kind of hectic.

Do you ever get those days where you just want to sit and do nothing....I mean absolutely do nothing. Well, I keep on having those days. Maybe it's because of the lack of sleep. This is why you guys should sleep while you are young. Especially some of you guys out there that don't sleep until 3:00am!! CRAZY!! I'm not going to name any names though (cough cough....). I can't stress the importance of sleep while you guys are in school. It really helps you think. SERIOUSLY!!

So this Friday (hehe...today) is Friars and Nuns. It starts at 7:30 at the church. So bring your friends and the girls are going to do their thang...and boys will do their manly boys stuff....hahaha.

I don't know how many of you guys read this, but this blog was supposed to be a discussion board as well. You guys can comment questions and stuff like that, and we would try our best to answer them.

David asked me a good question the other day. He asked where you would draw the line if you were a police officer and a christian. He gave an example of if the police caught someone speeding, do they still give them the ticket? or do they forgive them and let them go??

Well, in the Bible, it specifically instructs us to submit to higher authorities because they have been created by God, so in other words, the police are there to keep the peace, so you still have to obey all the rules.

Let's take a look at Romans 13

Romans 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Does everyone understand??

So basically.....listen to the police! :)

Does anyone else have any questions??? C'mon....we're ready for them.

"Did you know that there's a song called Tell the World??" -> hahahaha....it still makes me crack up....sorry!!

You GUYS ROCK!

See you tonight at 7:30pm

So Long Suckers!

Well goodbye to the group of you going to YC and I'm praying for you guys to be touched by God and to have a safe trip there and back!

As for the rest of us, we'll be meeting at our usual time for "Something Fun" being led by our guest leaders--YAC leaders of the past--Sam and Jackson! Come prepared at 7:30pm! Bring your friends!

Wait, back to the YC thing...when you guys get back, how about posting something here about how YC was? Please don't just say "it was good"...we know it is good, but why is it good? I've been to 4 different YCs in my lifetime and God has shown me soemthing throughout each one! So when you guys are back, let us know here what God has shown you/is showing you! Your story could be a great encouragement to all those who read!

A'ight...that's it for now! Payce!

Lead me on and I will RUN after You...

Does anyone know which song the words from the title are from? :P

Man, wasn't it a great weekend? It was awesome having YAC twice in one week wasn't it? I can really tell that many of you are super hungry for God to fill you up through the worship times we have together. I sense such excitement in a lot of you and it really is encouraging to see! Don't stop with what you got though, keep getting MORE excited for God. Be MORE hungry for God. He can satisfy us in such an amazing way.....if you feel like God's filled you up, He can still fill you some more until His love is overflowing out of your heart. Wouldn't you like to experience that? Wouldn't it be amazing? I pray that God would lead us all on with His love so that we would chase after Him like nothing else matters!

That's it for now folks...see ya'll on Friday at 10am for Good Friday Service! :)
